Soneva has always been an innovator in the field of responsible tourism. We take our environmental and social responsibilities very seriously. Whether it's developing resorts using sustainable materials, recycling waste materials, conserving water or preserving fragile underwater eco systems, we are always prepared to take the initiative.
The acronym SLOW LIFE (Sustainable-Local-Organic-Wellness Learning-Inspiring-Fun-Experiences) explains the Soneva philosophy. Our aim is to create unforgettable, enlightening experiences that rejuvenate each guest's love of SLOW LIFE. It's about illuminating lives whilst treading lightly on the earth.
At Soneva Fushi we're lucky enough to have our very own marine biologist who will be more than happy to take you snorkelling around the house reef and explain the effects of global warming.
Eco Centro is a must visit for any guest. Situated in the centre of the island, it's the hub and proving ground for Soneva responsible business initiatives. Please ask for a guided tour. Children love it, and for all of us it's a fascinating example of how innovation and determination can have very real effects in terms of improving carbon footprint.
Our SLOW LIFE philosophy applies to everything we do. We have SLOW LIFE spa experiences using local ingredients, locally produced food and drink – visits to our organic garden and mushroom hut are essential – and SLOW LIFE experiences include cultural visits to learn about the lives of Maldivian people. A visit to the school we sponsor on our neighbouring island of Eydhafushi is also highly recommended.
