We invite our guests to experience the beautiful nature of Koh Kood, which has some of the most vibrant natural ecology in the whole of Thailand. The amount of different ecosystems present, combined with the island’s low population and relatively unspoiled environment, means that the island supports a large diversity of life.

A number of different experiences have been created to showcase the best of Koh Kood’s beautiful nature:

Koh Kood Butterfly Quest
(Only available from June – December *weather dependent)
Duration:  1.5 – 2 hours

We begin our hike at the big Banyan tree, where we will proceed on an easy trail through the rainforest, guided by Soneva Kiri’s resident Tropical Ecologist. Along the way we will visit the secret waterfall and see a huge variety of flaura and fauna, most notably many different species of butterflies. There are more than 100 different species of butterflies on the island of Koh Kood alone! Also marvel at the wonders of the beautiful 600 year old Rosewood and Banyan trees we will pass along the route.

Somchai Rainforest Trek
Duration: 4 hours

This experience begins with a short boat ride to the north end of Koh Kood. From here, the resort’s Tropical Ecologist will lead guests on a four hour trek through the island’s dense rainforest.  Along the way, we will relax and cool off crystal-clear waterfalls that cascade over five different levels. This is truly unspoiled Thailand at its finest! This activity requires a moderate level of fitness and hiking ability as hiking uphill is involved.

Yai Ki Trek and Paddle
Duration: 2 – 3 hours

This popular activity combines the best of Koh Kood in a hiking and kayaking adventure. Begin the day with an easy hike to a nearby waterfall where you can cool off in the natural spring waters, passing by local villages.  After this, there is plenty of time to explore the area, with the resort’s Tropical Ecologist giving you an introduction to flora and fauna. Finish the experience with a relaxing kayak around Khlong Yai Ki, near the renowned Benz restaurant, before heading back to the resort.
