Our sushi counter is run in partnership with Chef Kenji Gyoten, one of only a handful of three-starred Michelin chefs from Japan, whose restaurant has a waitlist of almost a year. The hinoki counter top is Japanese pine, polished with sake.

Down to Earth was my favourite restaurant. The soft-shell crab curry was out of this world. Great produce; perfect spicing; lovely depth of flavour. At breakfast the patisserie rivalled a Parisian boulangerie, and the selection and variety were outstanding. Out of the Blue must be one of the finest lunch spots in the Maldives. We were the first to try a new Thai-leaning menu. It was bloody superb; the chef asked us how spicy/authentic we’d like the som tam salad. The dish he produced was up there with the best I’ve had in Thailand.

Soneva Fushi has some of the best resort food, no, some of the best food you can get anywhere. The amazing breakfast buffet and the nightly food offering are fantastic. The best of local, Indian, Sri Lankan influenced food and the best produce flown in from Europe and Australia you can imagine. I will never forget my first breakfast dosa, or eating beautiful Iberico ham and French brie for lunch with a glass of good pinot from their excellent cellar. The new Out of the Blue restaurant set over the water takes things to a whole new level, not only amazing food and hospitality, but a private 8 seat dining room where food can be cooked by some of the greatest chefs in the world. The only hard thing about Soneva Fushi is leaving!

Throughout the Festival of Colour 2019, some of the world's most celebrated and decorated chefs, all of whom have come from Michelin-starred restaurants, will be hosting highly exclusive dinner events at Soneva properties, each for a maximum of eight resort guests at a time. It is the first time that the MICHELIN Guide has done any kind of event in the Maldives. The partnership is also designed to appeal to the international foodie scene and cement Soneva's reputation as an epicurean destination.
