Get to know a little bit more about some of the incredible Hosts we have at Soneva Kiri.
Khun Chompoo - Ms. Friday
Chompoo loves island life and sees Soneva Kiri as a home for both guests and Hosts. She loves feeling close to nature and loves to watch the sunrise at the jetty after a morning run. After a brief time working with the spa, she decided to become a Ms. Friday at Soneva Kiri. A veteran in her craft, it’s been eight years since she chose the life of a Ms. Friday and she knows our guests and their requirements inside out.
Chef Benz - Head Chef at Benz Restaurant
15 years ago, Sonu and Eva stopped at a cafe in rural Thailand for directions. They found Khun Benz who they instantly knew was special and invited her to join the Soneva family. Benz worked at Soneva Fushi for 10 years before returning to Thailand, opening her restaurant at Soneva Kiri.

Khun Goi - Den Manager
For Khun Goi, life in The Den is full of creativity. She has a passion for arts and crafts with a particular penchant for making birthday cards – a common pastime for Den Hosts and young visitors. Khun Goi believes that fulfillment comes from the things one does rather than what one has, and she uses this philosophy to create engaging and fulfilling experiences for our younger Soneva guests.
Khun Gung - Water Sports Host
Khun Gung is an experienced excursion Host with a passion for late night karaoke. With several years as a boat captain, he loves being on the water. From fishing trips to sunset cruises, Khun Gung loves to accommodate guests for ocean experiences where he feels in his element – other than singing into a microphone, that is.
Chef Kengo Tomita - Executive Sous Chef
Chef Kengo has over 23 years of culinary experience from working in Japan, Spain, Dubai, Russia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Thailand. He worked in Spain for 18 years, throughout San Sebastian, including the 3 Michelin star restaurant, Arzak. In 2015, he joined Soneva Fushi as Chef de Cuisine and in 2016 moved to Sonava Jani, as the Executive Head Chef. Chef Kengo then moved to Soneva Kiri as Chef de Cuisine at The View, where he created a menu that uses 70% of its ingredients from the Eco Centro Garden, all which are 100% organic. In April 2107, he was promoted to Executive Sous Chef.
Khun Khem - Waste-to-Wealth and Landscape Manager
Khun Khem holds a Master Degree (M.S.) in Agricultural Technology from Rajabhat University. In 2012, he moved to Soneva Kiri, where he was faced with the task of building Eco Centro. He helped build the Eco pavilion, mushroom hut, bio-diesel plant, green nursery, recycling centre, oxidation ponds, and Pyrolysis oven, as well as the herb and organic garden. In the future, Khun Khem hopes to initiate a “Happy Chicken” farm, to produce organic eggs and expand the farm to cover any other livestock needs.
Taeko Taguchi - Ms. Friday
Taeko is one of the original Ms. Fridays who were part of the original opening team at Soneva Kiri and has been working here for 10 years now. These days Taeko is also one of our Astronomers, sharing her deep knowledge of the universe with guests. She loves sports and is especially good at volleyball. Not only being our Japanese-speaking Host, Taeko also speaks fluent Thai and English.
Khun Ting - Assistant Restaurant Manager
Khun Ting joined Soneva Kiri in 2012 as a Waitress and worked her way up to be Soneva’s Assistant Restaurant Manager. Hailing from the Sisaket Province in North Eastern Thailand, Ting’s warm and traditional Thai hospitality, huge smile and can-do attitude make her hugely popular with guests and hosts alike.
